FRV and Harmony begin construction of second battery storage project

Construction has got underway for Renewables developer Fotowatio Renewable Ventures’s (FRV) second battery storage project in the UK, together with partner Harmony Energy. FRV, owned by Saudi Arabian industry group Abdul Latif Jameel, has deployed hundreds of megawatts of wind and solar projects around the world since 2006, when it built what was then the world’s largest solar plant, a 23MWdc project in Spain. However, the company only began its involvement in battery storage in 2019 with the announcement of its first grid-scale battery project, the 7.5MW / 15MWh Holes Bay project in England.

Thrive Renewables continues to expand portfolio with 20MW battery asset acquisition

Thrive Renewables has acquired its second battery storage asset, with this being a 20MW battery project in Bristol. It has the capacity to deliver between one and two hours of electricity for flexibility services such as frequency response and balancing services to the national and local grid. The Feeder Road site will participate in both wholesale market trading and future Capacity Market auctions, the company said. The company’s portfolio of projects reflects how the energy system is changing, said Monika Paplaczyk, investment director at Thrive Renewables.
